Dr. Insung Baik is a highly sought after soloist, orchestral musician, and teaching professional. From performing the Vivaldi Flute Concerti with the Virtuosi di Prague Chamber Orchestra, to giving the premiere of Stuck for Solo Flute by Herbert Willi in Japan, to appearing with both the Korean Chamber Orchestra and Seoul Orchestra, Insung has presented a wide-ranging and extensive repertoire throughout her solo career. Equally at home as an ensemble performer, Dr. Baik began her orchestral career with the Chicago Civic Orchestra prior to being appointed as Principal Flute of the Fort Collins Symphony. She has participated in the Pacific Music Festival, Round Top Festival, Seoul International Music Festival, and Aspen Music Festival as a Flute Fellow. She has also performed with the KBS Symphony Orchestra, Sarasota Ballet and St. Petersburg Opera and has performed under the direction of Riccardo Muti, Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Boulez, Charles Dutoit, Kent Nagano, Christoph von Dohnanyi and Andrey Boreyko. Dr. Baik has taught at Northwestern University, Oberlin Conservatory, and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she was granted a Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance and Literature. As a passionate and dedicated teaching professional, Insung teaches a competitive private studio of aspiring flutists. Her students have consistently won top prizes in several competitions, as well as successfully auditioned into orchestras such as MYA, CYSO, and GSO.
